Been playing around with my Macro and the Avast Marine porthole. Quiz is self explanatory, can you give me the genus (and species or marketing name if you’re extra smart) of these SPS corals. Hint: all but two are a different genus. IMG_1727.jpeg

The one you didn’t get is very hard though it is a common SPS

Overthinking it. They are all fairly common. May have gotten one out of order ;)

1. Cycloseris wellsi/explanulata; morph "Freak Hair", commonly misidentified as Pavona or Lithophyllon
2. Acropora
3. first guess Anacropora; second guess Montipora
4. Stylophora
5. cf Pavona varians; morph "Mr. Freeze", commonly misidentified as Leptoseris
6. Montipora
Game over?

Corals are on my list of things to learn (the list is, admittedly, pretty long though, haha), so I don't mind the tag at all.

My guesses:

-Jason Fox Freak Hair Pavona

-A blue Acropora of some variety; possibly Acropora sarmentosa?

-Another Acro; possibly Acropora tortuosa?

-Stylophora

-Leptoseris

-Sunset Montipora

Dang. My second guess would be Seriatopora; those two are the only genera I know with polyps like those.
Got it!
Was shocked to see the polyp tentacles(?) were multicolored!
