8.3-9.1 is a fairly large range. over what time do you let it fluctuate that much? for example, i keep mine 7.4-7.5 day to day. the goal should always be to keep alk as stable as possible its generally the one thing that can stress sps the most@FraghouseCorals - what do you keep your salinity and Alk at? Thinking of buying some sticks from this sale but I'm new to sticks and don't want to kill 'em. My Alk range is 9.1 - 8.3. Do I need to acclimate acros?
I do 1.025 and let it drift to 1.026 from dosing then knock it back to 1.025. ALK we target 7.8-8.0@FraghouseCorals - what do you keep your salinity and Alk at? Ah okay. that’s not too bad just a normal drift down. If it were me I’d try to get the dosing dialed in so it didnt fluctuate much day to day. Blue bucket is good! The best advice I ever got from a fellow hobbyist is to pick an alk that your tank likes and switch to a salt that mixes approximately at that level. that way you aren’t constantly chasing numbers. Made my life way easier to swap salts and then water changes do some of the correcting for meIt drops from 9.1 to 8.3 in seven days time. I've started dosing All-For-Reef every other day and the number has stayed closer to the high 8's. Problem is my salt. A water change will usually raise the Alk (Red Sea Pro). I'm thinking of switching to the blue bucket.
