This fish is one I am considering adding to my FOWLR. The tank currently has no algae (that I can see…) - due to being very lightly stocked (currently 4small fish in 75gallon, lots of seeded live rock) and also just with room lights so not much photosynthesis potential.

Is this a problem for adding an algae eating fish, or can it’s diet be adequately provided via feeding? Or should I add more fish beforehand and let the tank get more established?

Don’t over think it just make sure you feed a varied diet. You can feed seaweed on a clip a few times a week and flame should be fine. I had a flame in my fowlr set up for quite awhile and he was fat and healthy!

Centropyge angels are hardy and intelligent fish, but you really should provide some nori on a clip for them. The only fish in my tanks that do not go for nori are strict carnivores like squirrelfish, but you'd be surprised how quickly it gets eaten by every type of creature in your tank.
