Fixing acrylic -A eshopps S-200 skimmer journey

So, first reef tank...first skimmer...eshopps S-200.
I like the skimmer...it's shorter...it skims...and it's blue
However, it does have a wee bit of a weak acrylic problem.
Now, this may be a thing in all acrylic skimmers and I just don't know about it because I am a Skimmer Bambi. I do find it kind of...annoying.

So far, this skimmer has broken:

1. Not even dirty yet: eshopps sent replacement part

2. One of the acrylic parts that latch down the skimmer pump (fixed with acrylic glue)

3. The Grand Daddy Break as I was taking out the skimmer cup to clean.

Since the skimmer was over the year old mark, I figured it was new skimmer time for me. However, my brother was like "I can fix this".
And, with a blue acrylic rod I had for another project, and some glue...he did.

I put it back in the sump and it seems to be working pretty good.

So, I do have a question for the reefers who have fixed their acrylic skimmers...

Do the fixes for something as big as the grand canyon crack on this skimmer work for the "long" haul?

Also, I am looking for beefy skimmer recommendations for a 100gal heavy bioload mixed reef tank that is on the shorter side (~20 inches if it needs a water depth below 8 inches to skim. ~22" if it can skim in 8-10").

UPDATE: I bought a Tunze 9410 skimmer in November.
Night and day as far as...well, anything. The #TUNZE 9410 rocks...so easy...so so easy. And taking off the cup is so easy and simple.
