Hi guys last question I promise after I started my saltwater tank my dad made his 55 gallon into saltwater.

his water is perfect ideal. But his fish ALL die within 2 days to a week. Skin peeling on most of the fish. He had a wax candle close to the fish tank about 3 weeks ago could that be it? We’re at a complete loss.

Hi guys

I started my love for saltwater fish 5 months ago and the learning experience has been steep. I don’t know what I would of done without this forums.

I have a question. I woke up this morning to see some spots on my fox face fins. I treated with prazipro but it could easily be ich.
Fish are eating only thing different I’ve seen is darting and maybe some shaking of the head. I haven’t had much luck with fresh water dips.View attachment 3011444

Welcome! Glad you joined. You are likely about to or just did your next treatment per Jay earlier in this thread (post #11). Jay Hemdal is AMAZING!! Our local hobby club was lucky enough to have him as guest speaker, so you'll enjoy getting some knowledge first hand from Jay:

Have you considered starting your build thread? I found its a great place to document my tank's evolution for myself. I started tank first then joined, so I'm still finding myself going back collecting pictures & updating historically as well as current state. Once you create your first post in your thread under Forum > Member Aquariums and link it to your account, they will give you build badge (look left, under my ID)

This might help you find people local to you in Connecticut:

This is a good reference book type online article I still review:

scented candles have potential for surprising impacts, but peeling skin sounds like something to take to Fish Disease with water parameters...

I'd personally stop putting fish in that tank... I'd bleach it and everything, then after letting it fully dry fill with water and one of those de-clorinators, rinse again, let it dry, then re-start tank... wishing your Dad lots of luck... That has got to be heartbreaking to witness. Fingers crossed for him.

We removed all the rock and sand and emptied the tank back to cycling. Hope this solves it I don’t think my dad can handle another set of fish dying
