Added 3 G5 Radion XR30 Pros today. Courtesy of the BRS spring sale. Mounted them on the 70.5in RMS rail. Will be adding the diffusers in the near future.
Did a bit of a rescape using some Caribsea arches, epoxy, and superglue. The new arches are on the right. Also cleaned the back glass. I think it looks pretty nice. The tank is a bit cloudy due to the glass cleaning. I also put on my lens filters so the tank doesn't look so blue.
Decided to take advantage of the nice weather and build a control board out of some scrap plywood and 2x4s. My mounts for my Radion power bricks came today so I mounted those as well.
I tried to get an idea of the layout by making some paper cutouts.
Used my jigsaw to cut a hole for my power bar and drilled holes for my various cords.
Its been awhile since I dilled holes in plywood so the first couple didn't turn out the best.
Here is a before image of my cabinet.
Here is an after with a paint touch up. Unfortunately my cord wasn't long enough for one of my wavemaker controllers so I had to take it off the board.
Here is how my light power bricks are mounted now.
Not the best picture, but added my Picasso Percula back into the tank from QT. Tired of not having fish in the tank. I think a 115day fallow period was plenty long enough. My yellow tang and square tail bristle tooth are remaining in QT for a couple more weeks. I have new fish coming next week and the week after that need added before the tangs. Also cleaned the glass. Hopefully my next update will be new fish .
Added some asorted snails (conch, nerites, margaritas, astraeas, nassarius) as well as a blonde naso all from Dr. Reef's QT fish. I also put my yellow and square tail bristle tooth tangs back in the dt from qt. Everyone seems to be getting along.
Well phosphates have been creeping up from .03 to .08 over two weeks so I changed my carbon and GFO media today. I increased the GFO to 1/3 of a cup from 1/4. Also cleaned the glass, filter socks, and filled the crappy ato that keeps clogging. The Ato is probably going to be my next upgrade. Also started dosing microbacter7 today to hopefully help with my cyano.
Did a bunch of maintanence today. Cleaned skimmer cup, socks, glass, wc. Also cleaned my mixing bin and added a pink spot goby to qt about 3 days ago. Goby is currently in 2.5ppm copper power and metroplex.
Added a midas blenny. Currently treating an eye issue for my yellow coris wrasse and then adding him to dt as well. Put a ton of new corals in the qt tank over the past week.
Here are some less blue pictures. Particularly happy with the black/green pectina, acan colony, plate coral, and the pink acan in thr bottom right corner i purchased at the sterling heights frag swap. Now to wait the long 45days before adding to my main display .
Added some more fish. Lyretail Anthias, royal gramma, yellow coris wrasse, and midas blenny. Goby is almost done with qt. I believe my fish stock is done. Treating the tank with chemiclean for cyano. I have two mp40s on the way to increase flow to hopefully end the cyano for good.
Purchased two MP40s and hooked them up today. The first chemiclean treatment didn't seem to completely eliminate the cyano. It does look alot better than it did though. I did my wc and dosed for a second time. Hopefully the increased flow will keep it from returning.
Quick update. Added the first corals to the DT. Finally beat back the dinos I had in the frag tank. I dosed nitrate to 5ppm and phosphate to 0.05ppm. I did a 4 day blackout dosing MB7 during the day and 1ml per 10gal of hydrogen peroxide at night. On the fourth day I added a green machine 9w uv sterlizer which seemed to KO the dino. Sorry no picture of the dinos. Was brown snot everywhere in long strings. Pink spot goby finishes QT this week. Rest of the corals will be in the tank in about 20days.
Still having cyano problems. Not as bad as it was. Just going to increase water changes for awhile and hope it goes away. Adding pink spot goby tomorrow. He is currently in the acclimation box. One of my lyretail anthias has decided to start transitioning into a male.
The corals I added a week and a half ago are looking awesome. Not a whole lot else to talk about. The extra fish load sent my phosphate up to 0.3ppm. Currently the level is increasing by about 0.1ppm a week. Ordered a neptune gro light and some chaeto to setup a fuge next week hopefully.
Added two more hammers and a mystic sunset monti. Installed the neptune gro refugium light. Waiting on my chaeto to start the fuge. Did a 20% wc cleaned the glass and scrubbed hair algae. I will be adding most of my qt corals and snails next week.
