My Angel beauty that I put in the tank yesterday has an exposed dorsal fin bone.

I’m not sure if she arrived that way, or if it happened in tank.

My fox face also has an exposed bone, but she has been in a long duration power struggle with the purple tang and I thought it was injury related.

The fox face has had an exposed bone for almost 2 weeks, and it hasn’t gotten any worse.

Do I have some sort of bacteria? Are these just one off occurrences that will heal? Is there a treatment?

Difficult to get a full picture of it, but this will give you the idea.

Thanks as always!

You sort of answered the issue. Often its from a scuffle or aggression, occasionally injury but often the tissue does reform over the bone. Moving forward you want to keep an eye on the tang and make a decision if it needs isolation/separation or if it needs to go
Can it be bacterial- May be but often it will affect more than one spine

Thanks vette. You're a wealth of knowledge.

So bottom line, just keep an eye on things, and do nothing.. If skin starts peeling off other bones, I likely have a bacterial issue.
