They have what she is talking about in PETG too, it's not quite as shiny silky but it's rainbow color changing.

For the real shiny silky look PLA wins. For urchin hats and such it doesn't matter.
Elegoo said they're going to send me some PLA+ instead of the extruder since I don't have an Elegoo and they can't guarantee that the extruder will work with my machine. Totally understandable. Can't wait to see what color PLA+ they send.

I just bought 20 rolls of PLA+

All these multicolor prints for the kids, and I'm printing a riser for my Bambu. That will take about 3 rolls but it's super cool.

At least to us 3D nerds ...

That thing probably has half a roll lost to color purging.
Neat to watch
the block looks kinda cool too.

It's a trade off, I lost as much to purging as one of the figures, but it sure is cool.

I can adjust the purge amounts and the priming tower but left it at defaults for this run. They are releasing a firmware update to reduce the waste by 25% or more.

I won't always print multicolor things, but the AMS also has the nice feature of switching rolls when one runs out.

It probably can't happen easily for small prints like pika, but I wonder if they have the tech to calculate the filament left in the extruder and run it out in the infill for a color change. I think I remember prusa advertising something like that on their XL, but my memory is that of an almost new parent. oddly enough...

It cuts and retracts the filament, then purges X amount to clear the hotend say from black to white, would take more so you don't end up with gray.

The new code retracts first then cuts. The blade is just above the printhead.

I love Prusaslicer multi printhead design, there would be minimal waste, but at $3000+....yikes

That's pretty slick. How would you gum it up?

The prusa has a lot of great things about it. Price, not one of them.

More than the multicolor prints, this is one thing I love about the AMS, it will automatically switch to the full roll when empty.

I've got over 30 garden signs to make for the Mrs. Is love an ams further task. Or at least a machine that will accept a pause on the code...
