My son doesn't want to give up his Iphone 8+. It is strictly for the thumb print part. He said it is to distracting to do the face recognition while driving or in the dark. I actually thought the same thing but once i got used to it the face recognition works great. Unfortunately his iphone 8 has started to not work on phone calls, either the mic or the speaker has gone out. Honestly I still think his favorite phone was the old MS phone, I think it was a Nokia. Even after he got the iphone he still used the MS phone on wifi for the apps.I've had both over the years and slightly prefer iOS. The issue I'm up against now is that I have an iPhone 8+ because it was the last model that has a home button. I had one of the newer ones as a work phone and I absolutely hate phones that don't have a physical home button. Half the time I pick up the phone it's upside down. Also, the home button is exponentially faster to navigate through programs than that dumb butt swipe up and to the side bs. Problem is that Apple has very obviously throttled down my phone to make me buy a new one, but the only one they make with a home button is the 2022 SE, which has a much smaller screen than I currently do. iPhone 8+ was the best phone they ever made, IMO.
I guess I got used to not having the home button. I can pickup my iphone 14 and I know if I have it upside down without looking.
