Haven’t posted in a while so I figured I’d put an update, tank coming along - had a minor hiccups and now I’m running into space issues.

¿?To trim or not to trim, that is the question?¿

As with everything in this hobby, it’s how you overcome adversity that helps you produce a favorable outcome…

…had to keep pushing forward after a alkalinity problem took out quite a few of my choice corals.

Off to a great start!!!
What are your stock plans for coral and fish?
So far, I want utilitarian fish. I have a Bristle tooth tang, lunar wrasse, pair of mocha Davinci clowns, and recently added 4 yellow tailed damsels and orange spotted gobbie. I want to go more mixed reef but sps dominant. I do a 50 gal water change every 2 weeks, on my days off, and clean out my sump as well. I have a 30Long from IM which I will turn into my frag tank and possibly plumb it into this system. Still not sure on this yet. But I’m taking it slow and still adding pieces of equipment as I go. This march will be a year running and in June will be a year for my rock work. Also thinking of supplemental lighting with the AI blades one on each side for shadowing.

@ReeferJay86, my two biggest issues with the innovative marine INT tanks are one (1), the over-flows act like a big detritus trap, and two (2), a single 3/4" return. I added two powerheads to the overflow that kick on when the lights go out. I noticed a very dirty fleece paper over the course of a few days from all the trapped detritus in it, and the skimmer went to town pulling most of the rest. IMHO, the single 3/4" return restricts the volume of water and would have been better to have a single one (1") or better yet two. I have a plan to fix that issues (see the image below) but, IMHO, it's a design-limiting mistake.

This gives me 3 x 3/4" returns increasing my volume by allowing me to also use the factory signal 3/4".

Nice! Yeah the over flow isn’t as good as I thought it would be. I have some spare Fluval power heads, I might just throw one back there as well. I’ve been even thinking about modifying the over flow to be a single tower instead of full tank. Especially right now that I didn’t have a ton in there. Use the existing acrylic to build the walls to square off and cut out the rest. It’ll give the 4-5 extra inches in tank display. Can’t wait to see how the return works out for you. I have spare plumbing left over, just might do the same.

So I had ordered a 200INT and after 6 weeks decided to switch it to a 200EXT for this exact reason. I just knew I would have to build something similar for more flow. I also thought about switching to a 2 drain system and using the 3rd hole for another return but I didn’t know if that would be possible with limited space. That thing will be right with 3/4 x 3!

The tank looks awesome man. I think you’ve convinced me to start hammering away at all my marco rock and glue it all together no matter how long it takes… And to possibly mount all my electronics outside of the tank. I feel like the humidity and salt creep in the cabinet would decimate everything!

Do you treat all of those meds to all of your QT fish or just the copper?

Water Change + Poly Filter
-- OBSERVE FOR 2 WEEKS --

Formalin, I follow this (below) BUT only if I know I have Marine Velvet Disease (Amyloodinium), Brooklynella, Uronema, Flukes.

From HF, not mime:

What It Treats Temporary relief for Marine Velvet Disease (Amyloodinium), Brooklynella, Uronema, Flukes (Monogeneans), Black Ich (Turbellarians). 100% eradication of these diseases is possible through repeated baths and/or In-tank treatment.

How To TreatIn order for Formalin to be fully effective, the product you are using should contain 37% formaldehyde + 10-15% methanol. There are very few "aquaculture approved" formalin products on the market, and they can be expensive + difficult to buy due to various regulations. Parasite-S (MSDS is here) can be purchased from Syndel USA: https://www.syndel.com/parasite-s.html

However, you can also use this Formalin product sourced through amazon.

Just keep in mind that formalin typically only has a 6 month shelf life, so don't stock up on it! :) Also, formalin should always be stored + transported at temperatures above 40°F (5°C).

Usage - The below dosages only apply to fish being treated in a marine environment above 70°F/21°C:

1) In-tank treatment: 1 ml per 10 gallons (or 2 drops per gallon) daily in a bare aquarium for 7-10 days. This produces a concentration of 25 ppm. Dosage may be cut in half (12.5 ppm) for sensitive species or extremely sick fish which may not be able to tolerate a "full" treatment.

2) 30-60 minute bath treatment: 1 ml per gallon or 20 drops per gallon premixed into the water. This produces a concentration of 250 ppm. Dosage may be reduced to 200ppm (16 drops per gallon) or even 150ppm (12 drops per gallon) for sensitive species or extremely sick fish which may not be able to tolerate a "full" treatment. Treat for a maximum of 60 minutes if the fish seems to be handling the bath fine, but cut it short (30 minutes) if breathing becomes too heavy. The bath is best done in a large glass bowl or container, but a food grade plastic bucket is fine as well.

Anytime you use formalin it is extremely important to vigorously aerate the water, especially when doing the bath treatment. This is because formalin has a tendency to rapidly reduce available oxygen in the water. You can use an airstone (or multiples) cranked on high, or a powerhead pointed towards the surface of the water, to increase gas exchange (which provides more oxygen).

ProsTreats or provides temporary relief for a wide range of diseases. In some cases, formalin can “buy you more time” until a proper treatment can be done.

Cons/Side EffectsFormaldehyde is a known carcinogen. Therefore, precautions must be taken when using it. Preventing your skin from coming in contact with it by wearing waterproof gloves and not breathing in any fumes by wearing a face mask is highly recommended. Formalin also can be harsh on the fish’s gills and will quickly deplete oxygen from the water. DO NOT USE if a fish has open wounds. In some areas, the purchase of formalin is prohibited.

This really help to reduce the amount of food, making it down the overflow.

Nice! I've been on it a year now and coral have never looked better. Also I ordered the 150 Lagoon EXT, patiently waiting the 20 weeks for delivery.
Very cool I’m sure you’ll be happy (waiting sucks) with that tank!!

Speaking of moonshine, how has your dosing regiment changed over the last year(?), assuming you’ve kept up with your testing by ICP so have you noticed a big difference from day one till day 365? Are you dozing in the mornings or at night? Very curious to get your perspective since you’ve been on it for a year now.

So, I had a major setback :loudly-crying-face: - dKh went so high that Hanna only showed an error reading it. I lost a few of my nicer SPS, but the system has bounced back nicely;). A quick little video of the current state.

Typical, big corrections (whole bottles) the first few icp's now not that much. Figured out my consumption on strontium, potassium, nickel and flouride and dose that weekly. Up to 5x on the dailies, .08 ml iodide for 275 gallons. Except iron, one acro turned really green and I cut that back to .05ml. I do small WC's to clean out the detritus as needed. My tank is heavily grown in and I have 2 frag tanks off it so big draw on the elements. Yes big changes, makes sense WC's weren't working as well for me. I dose at night but it probably doesn't matter
