Hi everyone. I recently got this Hippo Tang 4 days ago, and yesterday i noticed her bottom fin/belly had a little section missing. Thought maybe she hurt herself in the rockwork or got bit by another fish, so ive been watching her. Today seems to have gotten a little worse & i just want some opinions on what this could be and what i should do/how to treat. Just put her in a quarantine tank. Thanks guys.

Some pieces of tail missing.
Looks like being bullied.
Those are attack marks.
Thats what i thought at first. When i added the yellow tang it was going after the foxface for a little while but stopped and has been just swimming around everyone with an occasional chase. The hippo tang has a spot she likes to sleep and the hawkfish also likes to sit there and they wiggle at eachother for the other to move out of the spot. Other than that everyone else is peaceful. The bullying must be happening at night.

My money is on the yellow tang unless its a litle baby biota then probably not. I have 3 of those little ones. I ran two yellows through QT a while back and a week after adding them to the DT one started attacking the other. I actually saw it rip out a piece of dorsal fin so I hurried and pulled the one being attacked and moved it.

EDIT : typically they usually go after other zebrasomas but yellows can be some mean SOBs

Should i remove the yellow tang and put her into the sump then?

I see a skin irritation and bacterial issue likely from injury or aggression. I see this fish is in quarantine and dont see any tail part missing but rather aggression damage. What meds if any are you using?

We just pulled her out of the tank today, almost happened overnight. No meds, wanted to come here and check first.

Isolation is best and to better pinpoint the aggressor, when hepatus is back in tack, next time you feed, set your cell phone on video mode for about 20 mins and drop a little food and walk away - YOU MUST walk away as they know youre there. Often the aggressor is a bully at feeding time.
Review the video and see who it may be

I recommend a broad spectrum treatment using seachem Kanaplex

This tank appears quite new and I would slow down with the stocking of fish

At this point I would just watch the other fish and work on trying to save the hippo. Depending on tank size? you may have trouble adding new fish but I wouldn't banish the yellow if it isn't bothering the other fish now. Adding new fish may be a problem.

Hopefully those fish are not all in the new tank you were asking about a little while back?

EDIT : OMG it is. I'm outta here. I can't take anymore of this stuff tonight . I wish you luck

With Kanamycin, just be SURE to follow directions. The drug class aminoglycosides is a very powerful med class fraught with side effects if used inappropriately. More is NOT better.

It’s a 90 gallon. Also came here for advice not to be bashed just looking for some help. If you don’t got it don’t comment please!
Not bashing. This hippo is looks like he's infected. I'm worried about the cbb in the corner with nothing to eat. Bring the cbb to the store with you tomorrow, to surrender, when you go get the hippo some medicine.
