hai hello this is my thread on my new tank. redsea 170 with 2x floating rock

BEFORE (not mine):

cleaning
this was just awful, thousands of tiny snail shells EVERYWHERE. i tried to figure out what they were out of curiosity but didn’t look close enough for a definite answer. my assumption is they weren’t harmful, just annoying - 100-105 outside, took 2 days to get it where i wanted
IMG_4076.jpeg

this was especially horrible to clean, went in with a razor blade scraper and actually got most of it out
IMG_4079.jpeg

got her upstairs with the help of the fam and moved onto the
SUMP SETUP
specs
sicce silent 2.0 568 GPH
reef octo classic 110 skimmer
hygger 100W heater

IMG_4229.jpeg

floating reef
2x acrylic sheets
waterproof silicone

to obtain the floating rock look i cut 2 acrylic sheets to size, drilled 3 holes in each, and bended slightly above 90 deg with a blowtorch. cured for 24h
IMG_4206.jpeg

IMG_4212.jpeg

filling her up took 2 days total, hauling 5g jugs one at a time upstairs, waiting for the slow filter, mixing, etc etc..
which brings us to the current state of her

IMG_4245.jpeg

i’m super proud of how she’s come out so far and i’m looking forward to updating all of you friends with more pictures when the fishless cycle is complete and i move in my two clowns and existing coral. thanks for stopping by!
