Sounds like a lot of self inflicted wounds ranging from rom poorly placed electronics to overloaded circuits. Tearing the tank down that quickly instead of fixing the issues tells me you didn’t really want to be in the hobby in the first place (or wife didn’t) and just wanted a fish tank to look at. In any case, hopefully you feel better now.
