The 3 tanks that were started with this thread are with new owners .
I just need to choose a few SPS in my tank to track their progress.
50ml of a,b n c were dosed initially to get everything in parameters.
I am not sure if I mentioned it but these salts will raise the salinity after some time . The instructions still advise water changes and the addition of ro/di to correct salinity issues if they arise.
I thought this was alleviated with the mag solution and sodium free salts but a few reads said different .

Right. Any independent calcium and alkalinity will end up adding substantial sodium and chloride over time.

By sodium free salts, what do you mean? A concentrated salt mix for water changes that is low on sodium and chloride? If so, that can help with the salinity rise. Personally, i wouldn't bother with that, but just replace some tank water with RO/DI or do regular water changes at slightly lower than tank salinity. :)

FWIW this product is Balling's
It says part C is Sodium chloride free salts 1300 mg /L Mg; ~400 mg /l K
It proly came out wrong on the water change part I posted but that's what I meant (water change with a lower salinity )

Yes, so are you using that for water changes? Or some other way?

Randy ,
. The thread is a few years old but I just started another tank about 5 months ago .
I have gone back to using the product again on this new tank.
I just started dosing the salts yesterday
I have not dosed enough to see a climb in salinity yet .
If it does occur I will follow your advice
