My Tank Thread
The 3 tanks that were started with this thread are with new owners .
I just need to choose a few SPS in my tank to track their progress.
50ml of a,b n c were dosed initially to get everything in parameters.
I am not sure if I mentioned it but these salts will raise the salinity after some time . The instructions still advise water changes and the addition of ro/di to correct salinity issues if they arise.
I thought this was alleviated with the mag solution and sodium free salts but a few reads said different .
Right. Any independent calcium and alkalinity will end up adding substantial sodium and chloride over time.
By sodium free salts, what do you mean? A concentrated salt mix for water changes that is low on sodium and chloride? If so, that can help with the salinity rise. Personally, i wouldn't bother with that, but just replace some tank water with RO/DI or do regular water changes at slightly lower than tank salinity.
