What size os your tank and about how much do you use per day? How long does a bag or whatever it come in last? I have a 150 that sucks up alk like its going out of style, without dosing it can drop a full point to point and half in a day, need to trim the halimidia back though.

I am going through the upgrade woes ATM 80DB rimless from a 57 .
The pics of the Rommel's insane are in a 165 gallon system .
Imho there are variable as to why a tank chews alk.
Not saying this is u .
Unbalanced ca , ma , dkh levels...mag is usually the culprit
Skimmer not efficient enough for tank .
Feed too much/ lack of good husbandry practices .
precipitation / making bricks in the sand .
Or u tank is truly densely packed n the demand is truly there .
( very unlikely ) ...
What the coral Sps density ?
What are the levels testing at ?
Of the questions asked the answers r in this thread .
Its not that long please read it if u get a chance.

I seen it...37 mL a day. Is that if each solution or total?

My big three are

Alk 8.1
Cal 420
Mag 1360

Coral density, I have about six sps colonies that are over three inches and about twenty frags. A couple five inch clams, about seven lps. I have a huge halimidia plant, about 18 inch diameter. I think that plant sucks up a lot of alk and cal.

Dosing 3 ml once per week was 2 ml before the tank upgrade.
Density was a lot of frags mini colony to one colony .over 90 Sps .
Some acans , a few Favia n a softball sized hammer
1 tomini tang , 4 blue eyed cardinals , small six line , conch n 20+ trochus snails

Well its been a few years since I looked at this thread .
I will try to keep up with it since I got wet again .
I have a IM Fusio 40 with about 20 sps frags in it .
I just got in a case of the same balling salts. I also got a box of the DKH buffer ..
I see no problem with going back to what i used before.
Pohls xtra n lugols with red sea colors are on hand if the corals brown out on me.
Tank is starting to deplete calcium so I mixed up a batch to start dosing .

The 3 tanks that were started with this thread are with new owners .
I just need to choose a few SPS in my tank to track their progress.
50ml of a,b n c were dosed initially to get everything in parameters.
I am not sure if I mentioned it but these salts will raise the salinity after some time . The instructions still advise water changes and the addition of ro/di to correct salinity issues if they arise.
I thought this was alleviated with the mag solution and sodium free salts but a few reads said different .
