Hey guys I just recently picked up this moray from a store by me only because the store who had him practically gave me him for free because he was not eating.
I felt bad that he was going to die because they weren’t even trying. They were using very basic foods. I have nursed a few eels back before, but nothing like the species. Just curious if anyone who is an expert has extra advice to maybe coax this guy into eating. He is still on the smaller side but still a little thick he doesn’t look thin yet.

An eel guy is probably more of an expert than most of us here.:)

It's a fang tooth, so have you tried appropriately sized live fish? Maybe mollies or convict cichlids?
How big is it?

Internal parasites are probably a possibility.

I just picked him up literally a few hours ago . The store did not try live. They only fed silvers krill, and some other basic foods, but I don’t think they try too hard either. I was thinking parasites as well but he’s around a foot and a half to 2 feet

Of, if it's brand new and acting otherwise normally, I would throw in a couple cheap large mollies and see how it goes.

Keep us updated

Beautiful rare guy, ask the lfs on whether if their system contains copper since copper can put them off of their food

You can also ask them if they treated him with any kind of medication I would recommend you with general cure which contains praziquantel and metronidazole to treat a variety of internal parasites which could also be the cause of its behaviour

Be it almost any eel a medication of praziquantel is definitely something I would consider when first being bought from a lfs

Try a variety of foods such as squid, shrimp (be it without shell or with shell but with shell and head is recommended but also try without shell since my eel finds the shrimp more preferable without shell) in my case my eels love mackerel but will eat almost anything, though it's really hard for them to say no to live foods especially the "expert level" eels so goodluck

You can also try to put the food in the tank near him aswell as keeping a camera and leaving the room
