Currently I have a 40g Aquatop AIO that I’ve been into for about 7-8 months.
About a couple weeks ago I decided I want a clownfish anemone tank- ordered a RS nano peninsula for the job from BRS. I’m still waiting on delivery details.
My wife wasn’t a fan… and for interesting reasons: she didn’t like how the RS Nano didn’t match the AquaTop and that it was uneven- she was kind of annoyed by it actually.
A couple days ago I then decided I want to ‘downsize’ my current tank and get another RS Nano Peninsula. Now I’m sure here is where you think “Bro, why not get 1 larger reef tank?”
We live on the 3rd floor in an apartment. I do not feel like dealing with hauling up a reef tank up a flight of stairs, and then the inevitable move back down. 2 Nano tanks? Much more manageable.
Anyway.
Currently in the den/dining room (that’s also getting an overhaul) I have tank 1 cycling (without rock), with just sand and I’ll add media tomorrow to it.
I am going back and forth on bringing in new rock for the new tank or just migrating over old rock from the ‘old tank. It may or may not be riddled with bristleworms- and it freaks me out.
current livestock:
2 black snowflake clowns, 2 juvenile longfin black ice clowns (in a acclimation box in the main tank- I’ll give them a pvc tube to play/hide in tomorrow).
5 chromis
1 two spot goby
1 six-line wrasse
1 cleaner shrimp
1 female emerald crab
10ish misc snails
5 red hermits
coral:
~10 frags of zoas that are just staring to leave their little plates
8 torches on 1 branch
1 hammer that’s splitting
1 frogspawn that’s splitting
1 some other euphyllia that’s escaping me
1 xenia on its own rock
1 small Rainbow BTA
I think I’ll either ditch the chromis altogether in the new tank, or bring them down to 3- I have decided yet.
My issue right now is if I want to transfer the live rock or not… those dang bristle worms… I know I know.. they’re good…
In the photo I’ll have the current tank (please don’t mind the mess- I stopped keeping it clean about 9 days ago after I decided to transfer it’s contents), and the room where the 2 tanks will be going. 1 is already in front of 1 window, the other will be right next to it in front of the other, decided by 1 potted plant…
More to add as it comes…
