Hello!

I am having some trouble with my tank and I have some questions. This is my first time using Dr. Tims one and only.

I have a 24 gallon nano cube, I used CaribSea life rock(I really did not want hitchhikers this time) and CaribSea live sand, along with imagitarium pacific ocean water.

After I got my tank all setup I let it run for 24 hours. After the 24 hours I read the directions on the Dr.Tims one and only. I poured the entire bottle of Dr. Tims in my tank followed by 4 drops of Dr.Tims ammonium chloride per gallon.

I waited 24 hours and tested the water using my API saltwater test kit just like the directions said to do. The ammonia was off the chart! then I checked the nitrites and nitrates, they were present but not super high.

I skipped the 2nd dose(day 3) of ammonium chloride because the ammonia test turned out so high.

On day 5 I checked the ammonia, nitrites and nitrates again, only this time the ammonia was much much lower and the nitrites were around 5ppm and the nitrates were around 160ppm! Super high! This time I did not dose with ammonium chloride for fear of over dosing again.

Because of the nitrites and nitrates I did a 33% WC then waited 48 hours.

Today the ammonia was at 0, nitrites were around 2ppm and the nitrates around 80ppm.

So I topped off the water, then dosed with more ammonium chloride(only this time 1 drop per gallon). I did not do another water change.

My question is should I do another water change only bigger? And should I do them more often? Or should I just leave it alone and wait it out since the ammonia, nitrites and nitrates are going down?

Thanks so much for reading!
