Just got a really great idea. I want to add floats not opticals to my simplicity and was using just the basic resistor trick on my ca alk dos. I will rig up a wiring diagram and post pictures to make a DOS to 2 input Breakout box later. Sometime this weekend for sure. Will also include the optical sensor instructions in there too (TRRS female). If you can find the part numbers for the other connection type, add to it @((FORDTECH))

I appreciate all the suggestions, but I'd already bought the DDR well over a year ago and since I did pay for it (and it's still working!) I'll most likely continue using it. Thanks for the suggestions on how to retrofit a third party sensor setup - if/when my DDR ever breaks I'm sure it'll come in handy!

I'm holding out for the R. E. T-Virus bottles. But those would be a nice alternative.

These are the 3 parts to make a cable with wiring diagram. 2 from Amazon and 1 from digi-key

I'll add that to the post when I make it. The current thread is very disjointed and you have to look through 18 pages to find the information that is scattered through it.

Basically 4 variations after I put together the 2 input BOB idea
- activate tile only, no switches (others design)
- optical sensor harness for 4 pin optical (others design)
- optical sensor harness for 1/8" trrs connector (my design)
- activate tile and add 2 input dry contact breakout box. (My design)

2 port BOB idea works. Just waiting for a terminal block to finish it.

I have lived in a world of DIY dosing containers and just got an AquaMaxx DC-2 dosing container and I am impressed! The specs list the container with the capacity of 3 liters, a height of 19.75", the chamber diameter of 4", and the footprint at 5" x 6" (personal observation: this is probably more like 5" x 5.5" if you rotate it to orient the valve toward a corner). AquaMaxx also has a 1.5 liter option (DC-1) that is the same footprint and chamber diameter, but is only 10.25" tall which should work well for smaller volumes or shorter spaces. I especially like the tall, thin layout of the DC-2 and I also like the etched graduated scale on the side of the container and how the liquid is drawn from the bottom so the liquid can be completely dispensed.

I'm curious what dosing container options that I may be missing and what other ones are worth considering. Do you have a favorite dosing container? Why do you like it? Thanks for sharing!
The "marine color" brand on amazon is pretty nice and a lot cheaper than some other stuff out there.

I use the simplicity three compartment dosing container But I do not like the nipple they use for the hose so I drill them and use the bulkhead for quarter inch acrylic tube
How did you do this? Anyway you can show me? I use versas... and hate that they don't have 1/4" bulkhead attachments.

I have tried that one and also one that was very similar to it. That barbed bulkhead design always leaked air for me which made my dosing inconsistent.
I like them, just had to drill a vent hole in lid. Works perfect with all for reef

I use BRS space savers.

I've had a pretty serious problem with my Eco Tech Versa's, where if the tube coming out of the doser is angled, AT ALL, they loose suction and drain back into the dosing reservoirs. Sometimes they will not pull at all and I don't know until days later. Part of the reason I have the problem, is due to the angle of my doser, to dosing container. Still, the angle is slight and I think it is kind of crazy that the Versa's can't handle anything but a perfectly straight input. I have trimmed the line and re inserted, but still having a problem. When I contacted Eco Tech about the issue, they basically played the blame game and were of very little help. I'm considering using angled fittings to solve the issue. Rather just use a single line. Let me know if anyone has had this problem and how you solved it.

I made a stand and used the bottles the chemicals came in. I ran a glass tube to the bottom.

Was just like my setup until I switched to all for reef. So one pump for all for reef and other pump to push water through a kalk stirrer at night.
