Do I need a plug for this skimmer tube?

Hi guys,

Sorry for what might be a stupid question, but I just wanted to confirm my assumptions. I recently purchased a Buble Magus 5 off Facebook, and I am just in the process of setting it up. In the picture below I assume this tube Im holding is a drain tube? On the end there doesn’t seem to be a plug, I’m assuming if I bought it brand new I would have got a plug for this? I’m guessing the previous owner was using this and draining it into somewhere.

Should I not turn the skimmer on until I have somewhere for this tube to drain into or either I find a plug for it? Any other options I have?

I’m about to start cycling my tank, and have no livestock or coral in it.

Thank you!

Is it connected to the bottom of the skimmer collection cup? If that is the case either plug it or feed it to another larger container. I am not familiar with Bubble Magnus but I looked online and I dont see that connection as standard.

That is the standard plug in his hand. It appears to have a hole but it doesn’t. That from injection molding, I own 4 of these skimmers in all different sizes with the same plug.

Ya it’s connected to the bottom of the cup, I was looking online as well at the manual (very poorly worded) and it looks like normally there isn’t a big tube , it’s just a short piece. There is a hole in the cap that you can see in the picture which makes me believe the previous owner had it going into a container or something. I don’t plan to do that, I just wanted to run the skimmer as is.

There’s no hole in that. That’s the standard drain and plug! You’re good to go!

Oh really??? Ok so I should be good to just fire it up? Sorry I was just confused when I saw the hole in the end of it!

Yeah the manuals are weak as is the set up guides but what your holding is the plug!
