This is what I’m thinking for the sumps (walkway between them not to scale)

IMG_9260.jpeg

This new sump against the back wall of the tank… Bubble trap, filter socks, heater coil, media reactors, Kalk stirrer, lanthanum drip skimmer…

500 gallon Sump on the right stays, 200 gallon bin on the left goes…

This connected to the one behind the tank with the 2-3” bulkheads - 4’x16’ of active flow through sump… Extra live rock, CaRx, sulphur denitrator, refuge, mangroves and anything else needed to filter the water…

80 gallon frag tank stays, pull returns from the bottom end of this sump…

220 gallon top off water tank and 500 gallon water change tanks opposite the doorway on the wall, open center of the room for future isolated peninsula QT set up…

This line up will solve some current challenges:

- Bubble trap to rid the display of micro bubbles
- Extra sump volume for power outages
- Ability to add filter socks if needed
- Easy access to the media reactors
- Better water flow through the heater coil
- Full access to the back of the tank (catwalk)
- Return pump intakes 16’ away from drains
- No splash drain section with cover
- Electronics out of splash zone on opposite wall
- No longer need to pump water to the second 500 gallon refuge
- Glue in all drain pipes from the back of the big tank (up to this point only gravity feed skimmer drain is glued in LOL)
- Extra room for additional filtration equipment
- Open center of the room for future QT system
- Built in water change flow through tank
- Top off tank against wall out of the walkway

There is probably some other things too but those are some big advantages to the new line up…

Awesome Dude! Looks great. Have you gotten up on the catwalk yet
Thanks!

Yes, it’s great to be able to access more of the back of the tank :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

Still have some equalization work to do on water heights in the sumps and install the float valve.

So far it’s working great ;)
