I've had this on my sand bed for about 2 months, I keep vacuuming the sand and it keeps slowly coming back, it looks to be small disc like structures, with green algae surrounding it. Does anybody have any idea what this could be?

This looks to be it, should it be treated like any other nuisance algae? There is no sign of it on the rocks.

Sorry, I have no knowledge of this algae. If it doesn’t fit with your vision of the aquarium, kill it. If your vision is flexible, let it grow and see what happens.

Yeah. It's all over the sand bed and really unsightly. I'll do another gravel vac soon. To add I have been struggling with 0 nitrates recently, and I assume this is a result of that.

Bump - anyone have any experience with this type of algae? It will dissipate for a few days when I vacuum the sand, but it comes right back with a vengeance. It is not on rocks at all, just the sand bed

I actually was able to bring a couple out of the tank, and they do not seem like leafy algae at all, they are calcified, and brittle. Here's the closest macro shot I was able to get. Also a better Pic of the sand
