Wondering if someone can make an ID on what this is in my tank. First thought is dinos. How do I get rid of it?
Apologies for the video quality. Managed to dig out a microscope from when I was a kid. Think the lens might be dirty

First off, thank you for the amazing resource. I think I have an idea of which type of dino species I have (attached), but would really appreciate a second opinion from someone more experienced than I...@taricha

Please let me know what this is....

Spoiler: I think its Prorocentrum, because most of them are stationary; they are symmetrical; toxic; and all over the reefscape. Thanks in advance for your expertise!

Thanks!

Hello,

As far as I can tell, Coolia - thoughts?

Yes sir. Coolia! Oversized UV (~ 1watt/3 gallons of tank volume) with flow about 2x tank volume. These can be pretty toxic so running GAC and changing it often is a good idea.

Have people found UV off of the return pump to be effective for ostreopsis? My flow off of my return is pretty slow but I can sure ramp it up if it would make it more effective.

Not generally. Set it up with a dedicated pump in the display and return the effluent back to the display. Pulling from the sump is generally ineffective IME.

If done right treating Ostreopsis with UV is a quite short term affair most of the time. Flow through the UV needs to be very slow (compared to manufacturer's recommendations).

Once I get through this hurricane I’ll set up in the display. Off the return hasn’t done anything for me but I do need to change the bulb.
