I started on Saturday and current readings are ammonia and nitrites at two and nitrates at around 40 ppm, I've been dosing ammonia every other day but according to this post [ ] I should not be dosing ammonia, Did I mess up? The tank size is 110, additionally, I had the filter socks on for 3 days, took them out, and emptied them into the tank because BRS doesn't recommend running them during the cycle, but my tank is cloudy. Can I put the socks back in?

Never believe anything on Reddit or on Social Media other than Reef2Reef.

Follow the instructions on the product for best results.

I wouldn't keep adding ammonia, and the cloudiness is likely unwashed gravel or a bacteria blooming on ammonia. Quit fooling around with your socks, no need to mess with them.

It a beautiful launch. Should be cycled and ready for fish in 10 days.

Nitrites interfere with the Nitrate test, giving a false high reading. If you stop dosing ammonia and wait for the nitrites to hit zero then you’ll get your true nitrate reading.

Note that for saltwater tanks neither nitrites nor nitrates are harmful to the fish in any realistic concentration you’ll ever get.

So should I put them back, the cloudiness is from whatever the socks caught?
