Are you planning on running SPS? If so, I'd get the mp40s. I had 4 mp10s running at 100% not making a dent in water movement. My Mp40s are at 65% on the back wall.

I still have my gyre pumps, I feel like any sps I add to the tank the mp10's shouldn't have a problem. At least not until the corals start to grow, but I have to get to that point first!

Couple pictures from this weekend. Had to open my equipment cabinet, which I don’t do often! It’s a complete mess! Move one wire and the entire system shuts down... live and learn, will make it bigger if there is ever another tank!

Mushroom got sucked into on of the mp10’s ‍♂️

Side view of the tank is awesome now without the gyres on the tank.

Having a heck of a time getting the Nyos skimmer dialed in. It’s starting to mess with my salinity, Nyos reccomends 8” of water, it was at 7” in the reefer sump. I’ve not got it in 7.5” of water.

Also using a filter sock to clean the water and knock down some of the waterfall noise into the skimmer section. It’s helped a lot!

Adding a float switch to the skimmer section, it will shut the skimmer off if triggered. Hopefully prevent any mishaps with a raising water level and stop the cup from overflowing.

Hey Pelphrey , Looking good! Just finished your SPS vid. I noticed that this was before the sump swap, How did the frags do with the swap? I am in the same boat on sps frags;Shamefullyembarrased Nice choice on the frag pack! I also noticed the XR15's , when did you do the switch? maybe spread them out an inch or two over the birds nest if your worried about not enough light.

Emerald crabs are great at hiding! Found one in a hammer coral, just cleaning away!

Check out where I found my Emerald (hope you do not mind a posted image on your build)

Sorry I missed this comment! I added the XR15's a few months ago, the frags have taken a slight beating. My salinity hasn't been stable, I think I narrowed down why. I plan to investigate this further over the weekend before I expand!

Current Water Parameters

Alk - 8
Calcium - 410
Magnesium - 1200
Nitrates - 0
Phosphates - .01
Salinity - 1.024

I do have ESV alk, calcium and magnesium. The calculator says to dose 550 ml to bring it up to 1300, should I dose anything to bring it up at all?

Mag is definitely low for me. 1200 is riding that bottom line and not somewhere you want to be IME. I'd get it up to 1400 over a week or so.

I just replaced one of my Gyre 1k pumps with an MP40 and not sure I can ever do another pump that isn't a Vortech. My Gyres have become louder over time and I can't stand the cords and cleaning. If you have the room, you'll be surprised at how much more water a 40 will move compared to a 10.

The LPS are all looking good as well!

For two weeks now I’ve battled super I consistent water levels in the return chamber. Not sure what’s going on. The Tunze ATO worked flawlessly with my old sump, my skimmer adjustments haven’t moved. Any help is appreciated, my salinity has been on a roller coaster.
