Finally made it back home.

Stupid Klir filter got stuck again and beeped the whole time we were gone. I haven't had much luck with that thing since I got it. Not sure if I would recommend it to anyone.

Dendra looks good. Had to pull off a hermit crab that decided to crawl up her. She wasn't happy about that.

Other than that everything seems to have fared well. Alkalinity held steady at 8.2 and Phosphates were at 0.11.

Not sure if I'm doing something wrong with the phytoplankton or not though. Does it usually have some settle down at the bottom even with the air pump going?

I just used the hard line tubing to stir it up some when I got home. I'll do a split tomorrow and clear out what settled at the bottom and start another culture and try to separate out what sunk to the bottom and toss it out. Maybe it's some die-off or something that needs to be cleared out every once in awhile.

But anyway, It's good to be home.

I took this guy off last night and placed him on the other end of the tank and he found his way back. No idea what's going on but I figure he has an agenda if he keeps going back so I'll just keep an eye on him. Dendra doesn't seem to mind as much as she did last night.

I found coraline algae growing. Tank is over 2 years old and never had it growing anywhere in my tank. I would get rock and snails with it already on it but it would never grow on it's own. Doing some after trip maintenance on the tank and noticed this on my nori clip.

Drop the door to a half inch or an inch open, angels are nosey, make it want to go in! ;)

If this doesn't work I'll give that a shot. It will require some modification because the door actually has a sort of trigger slot drilled into it to hold the door open. I'd have to ring something up so it wouldn't be open all the way. For now though no one has gone near it. It might take awhile before they start to ignore this huge acrylic box that all of a sudden appeared in the tank overnight.

Mine has a different trigger so I can set it where I want, didn't realise yours was different!
Good luck! :)

I increase food from 1/3ml per hour, for 100 gallon volume. To 2/3ml per hour.

Of Phyto? That's WAY less than me. I'm doing about 10ML an hour for 100 g volume. Ever since I fixed the Flir roller filter it's been working like a dream. It takes most of the unused phyto out and the skimmer get's the rest. That's why I started culturing phyto. I was going through 240ml a day. Now I have gallons of the stuff.

Let me know how they respond and I'll reduce my feeding. I still have about half a dozen spare rollers for the filter left but at this rate they might go quick.

Are those photos of your children? I'm loving the one on the right.
