Been crazy busy lately.. Got a new job, FINALLY bought a house and have a baby on the way! Now i've got some down time to start my new build. I sold off my last 180g Acrylic tank for the pure fact i decided, I do not like acrylic tanks for display purposes.. I have also sold off all of my coral propagation tanks as i'm really only interested in just having a display to enjoy now.
For my new build, I originally wanted to go with a 48x48x24 cube but decided a smaller tank would fit my schedule better. Even though i have always been a huge fan of metal halides and still think they're the most favorable lights for an SPS dominated reef i wanted this system to consume less power than my previous ones which is why i am going with a LED (ecotech radion) / T-5 combo. We will see how it works out, I am really only looking for great color, structure and moderate growth.. Not worried about having a mature reef overnight.
I also sold off everything that was in my previous tank with the exception of the rock, a few frags, a few fish and my maginifica anemone. They are all in my 90g frag tank i plan to get rid of for the time being.
heres my previous tank.. and all the things i got rid of... people said i was crazy for selling off all my colonies i;ve had for so many years but i say growing the frags out is the fun part.
Anyway.. blah blah blah..
Tank
Leemar 32x32x24 Eurobraced 3 side starphire cube 105'ish gallons
35 gallon sump
Hang on refugium that will go on the side of the sump
I should be receiving the tank in the next week or 2, hopefully before thanksgiving so i can play with it on my days off..:nerd:
I made the stand myself out of old pallets. Super excited with the way it came out and it matches the coffee table and sofa table i made for our new house as well. Going for a rustic look. (yes, i still need to cut the hole for the overflow plumbing... i forgot about that part ha..)
I'll post more as i go. I'm still working on the light fixture housing which is coming along nicely and matches the stand, just need to mount the lights in it and hang it.
anyone have any good pulley systems they'd recommend for the fixture?? Still trying to figure out what i want to use. Definitely looking to be able to move the fixture up and down.
