Cycling tank ammonia there but still no nitrie

Cycling my tank and using api test kit,with microbctar xlm with dr times ammonia, it’s been 9 days my ammonia went down but still no nitrite showing when I test it . How long dose it take for the nitrite to show up?

I assume you retested both ammonia and nitrite to make sure there wasn’t a test error. The API test kits are crude kits. Not precise but they get you a decent idea of where things are at.

You could try re-dosing the ammonia and testing again. As long as the ammonia goes back down after retesting, you’re g2g. Nitrite isn’t harmful to marine livestock

Didn’t test nitrate yet, but my ammonia is going down from what I can tell on the api test kit was at 2 now either one or .5
