Added a toadstool coral to my tank on Wednesday. Noticed a small red patch on the rock. Today there’s more. Is there any way to stop it spreading or do I just deal with it when it does?

Try to blow it off with a turkey baster. Cyano will come off real easily. But, this doesn't really look like cyano to me. It may possibly be a sponge growing on the frag plug. If that's the case, that's not a bad thing.
