Hi everyone,

The time has come for a frag tank! My tank is about a year old now, but I've started actually putting corals into it and tracking parameters. I want to grow things out in my display tank, so a frag tank makes sense to have on the side to split some of my favorites and grow them out to trade or sell. I had originally planned on doing a 50g low boy, and even bought one! But then I found someone selling a 90g 6x2x1 tank locally, which is a half-height 180g. That sounds much more fun. :D I'm going to pick the tank up tomorrow. Also planning on adding a 40g breeder display refugium. I am planning on doing a custom stand with aluminum extrusion. Kind of 3 parts to the stand... the 90g up top, the refugium in the middle and to the left, a cabinet area to the right. Basically planning on equipment going there, probably a calcium reactor if I get to fill this thing up. :). Otherwise both tanks will be plumbed back to my display system for one big system for now. I may split them up later, but not to begin with.

Here is a wonderfully terrible drawing of what I have in my head for this project:

More updates tomorrow after I pickup the tank, hopefully!

Brandon

Thanks! The tank is home! Gotta save up some more money for a stand next. And figure out which furniture is going where to make room for this thing.

Got it cleaned out! Wish I could have it running before Reefstock, but that will not happen.

I checked the size of the bulkheads. I think they're 1.25", 1", and 3/4".

I keep debating on doing sand or not. I don't really want to, but I also want a yellow coris wrasse. So TBD!

Not too much progress lately. Work has been super busy, and will continue to be. I take that as job security. Lol. I did grab a calcium reactor, though. Aquarium Engineering ACR. Shouldn't need it for a bit, but I'll be ready when I do! Couldn't pass it up for $329. Going to try to get my stand designed this week and ordered in a couple of weeks. Also headed to Reefstock this weekend! More to come soon.

The tank is in the house. The stand design is finalized. Going with AluFab. Probably all white. Can't wait to get this going!

Super cool build. I’m a big fan of a display refugium I’m planing one for my build (still in the planing phase)
