Hi guys & gals!

I'm working on the aquascape for my new tank and would like some constructive criticism ( dont hold back, im a big boy), cause ive been looking at this for 3 weeks now and need a fresh set of eyes

I'm going for an HNSA type scape, i still need to do some detailing and add a couple caves and hidy holes with some rubble. some small islands will also be added.

The tank will be viewable from front and right side.
I stayed at least 2" away from the sides and for reference the tank is 39x24x22

Looks great. As you said, more places for fish to hide would make them happy and the small islands will look neat too. The downside of these open rock works... is the fish can't disappear when they want to (good and bad).

Looks really good, like you say, some more hidet holes and caves. I'd ask if you will get enough flow on the right hand side but depends on the wavemaker. Great job

Looks really cool and think it would make a very cool tank for sure. I know you kept at least 2” of space from the edges of the tank, however you might want to consider Coral growth, if a rock is 2” away from the edge that doesn’t leave any room for coral growth. As well as the height of the scape. It’s very dependent on the type of corals you want to keep. Overall I think it’s a fantastic scape and very cool!

Are you wanting to add more?
So far I like it. Hiding spots are great.

I think it needs one more rock.
See my Pic. It will add a little support also when the massive coral gets heavy. Have it come into the center and more coral can be mounted.

Looks good! My only suggestion would be to angle the caves so that you can see them from your viewing angles. When you add something that you really want to see, they will take up home in that one cave that you have angled somewhere that you cannot see them. It's the worst when that happens :)

Looks great! My only question is are you planning on incorporating any live rock? The base rock os definitely great for aquascaping, but I am a big fan of using live rock as well. I went with about 60% base and 40 % live when I did my 90 gallon back in September. It is just a really big benefit to the tank.

I found it hard to build my scape with live rock, so I used the live rock in my sump instead. I just needed more time to build than live rock could provide without dying off. Would have loved to have live rock in my display though...

Looks great. Only thing I would do is a small island closer to front so you have corals at different spots/depths (front to back).

Yeah, when I did mine I just knew up front that I would be adding live rock once the tank was cycled, so I just built my scape with that in mind. but if you have it in your sump, that certainly works too.

Maybe something in the middle part of the scape so that your fish will have more places to hide. Other than that, it looks great!

the picture doesn't really show it but there are already 6 caves in this scape and atleast 2 more easily made, also planning some islands with caves in them.

I have 3 wavemakers on order, left Middle and right

good point! might move the structure a bit closer together.

I think you're right! will be trying this when i get home.

so far all but the 2 smallest caves are visible from left or right, i tried to angle the caves to give the fish some respite from traffic passing in front of the tank.

live rock from my lfs will be going in the sump.

I kept the middle part somewhat clear cause i am hoping to get a maxima clam in there

They look like 2 dinosaurs fighting. Lol I love the arches. It would make it viewable from all around. I'm studying everyone's rockscape for my new build coming up and stealing ideas...
Question, though: is it a reef or fish tank? One thing I learned early (and every time the tangs knock the rocks around) is that you need flat places for corals... Even angled places where the plug hole can keep it secured... But arched, thin rock work won't hold coral plugs.

I just finished a scape very similar to yours. As long as you epoxied the joints it’ll be fine. You’ll be able to place corals where ever you’d like.
