I had a 300 gallon, sump, stand, hood, and equipment shipped. They shipped it on a double skid. I paid for delivery in my garage. The shipper came 3 times before they were able to get it off the truck and in the garage.
The company wanted me to inspect it before the shipper left. Due to size and even with all the help I had intold the company. It would take 3 to 5 hours to uncrate and inspect. The trucking company said they would have to be for wait time. I told them to contact the company that I purchased it from for additional payment. After a few heated discussions I received and adendum giving me 5 days to make claims.

When I move to Florida, this was the tank of choice. Now I question the quality as there is also Water Box.
They should think twice as I believe in support and consumer confidence and I am right now less than Impressed with how they are handling this

Glad this had a good result. Putting pressure on the company from the LFS was a good tactic, although they should still get credit for doing the right thing.

I was going to chime in with some things you could do as I started reading the thread, and then I was surprised by the result. So, I will share my tips with everyone anyway should you find yourselves ordering something like this.

- Definitely pay with CC, also check CC rules for the coverage, some of them are sneaky
- Consider paying for extra shipping insurance if available
- Let the shipper know that you need help inspecting on delivery, and the time involved
- If you have a home owners / renters policy, they may cover things like this, or may do so with an additional rider that may be very cheap and well worth it (also for water damage if other issues occur after). Also the amount may need to be adjusted.
- If you are hiring professional movers, and it is a good idea to do so for the extra insurance this gives you access to, make sure to check the options available for their insurance. Of all these options this is probably the easier one to actually file a claim on.

I actually dealt with Amanda, and boy was she a difficlut one to deal with... I have to say their support is worst then dealing with an car insurance claims agent/adjuster.

A word of caution, if you own any Ecotech MP pumps or pumps that can generate ocean pulse motion, don’t put the pump on in any pulse mode whatsoever. The pulsing mode can cause movement to the main drain that can cause a leak. I figured this out after many long frustrating hours of investigation with my 350.

Very interesting thread, my fiancée looking to join me in the hobby (but she wants a predator tank hahaha) and she loves the look of red sea tanks.

What multithousand dollar aquarium doesn’t come with a tempered base?
Preinstalled bulkheads at a pressurepoint during shipping seems like a rookie mistake.
Custom Aquariums lifetime warranty for the win.
Poor customer service is fine if you’re a big-box retailer, but in a hobby like this it kills reputations. This is, after-all, the same conpany that gave a ton of tanks to BRS for the publicity (nothing wrong with that, obv) but won’t take care of a paying customer?
Local fish store for the win. Sounds like those guys went to bat for the OPer.

Glad they did the right thing in the end.
R2R community win?

Are you referring to the return pump or power heads in general. I wasn't sure why anyone would run pulse mode on a return pump.

Meant to mention about your credit card AND debit card. If anyone is going to make large purchases, call your bank and they can increase your per transaction spending limit. It's a simple request like a travel notification that can be completed in 5 mins.

When I received my Red Sea 425xl recently there was a large notice on the package. It said to inspect the unit before signing for delivery. The tank and assy was in a wooden box on a skid. It took a lot of work to remove the crate, and then a couple helpers to remove the contents. I suppose it is possible to do this before signing, but hardly feasible. Fortunately there was no damage visible damage to the tank. I have yet to fill it with water.

I'm going with "at fault" shipping method. You just don't, ship a tank with bulkheads installed in the bottom. You ship it as flat as possible. Looking up close on your pic I see wood splinters on the seal. I'm willing to bet with the rough ride it sled and caught the bulkhead on the pallet.
I was intrigued by the pre-installed bulkheads. My LFS guy said never to rest the tank on bulkhead end. Wonder if Red Sea will adapt this down the road.

I was shopping around and hard to desire between RS REEFER 350 system vs WB Marine X 110.4
but after reading this story I'm now desire to go with Water Box 110.4. I don't want to run in the same problem like you have with RS. Sorry to hear about your problem but thanks so much for your post.
