I was culling out some vermetids snails today when I noticed that there were some weird "bubbles" hanging off my zoas and some of the stems of the colony had turned yellow. I poked at the bubbles a little but nothing happened. Obviously I had irritated the colony so they were mostly closed .the colony is mostly open during the day but I'm wondering if this has to do at all with the vermetids

Then I have these white tentacles growing off the back of one of my rocks. Originally thought they were pineapple sponges but they started looking different. Couldn't get the best picture

Lastly I've had what I think is some sort of feather duster, tiny things, growing under my gorgorian, which I think is benign

- those red feather dusters are pretty common, until you get a copperband butterfly
- yes those zoas look unhappy but I doubt they exhale underwater …I think that’s just a air bubble trapped by zoa slime…just a theory
- don’t worry about growths or tentacles or threads, or hairy stuff…won’t be the last time ….heck wait until your tank becomes infested with “micro serpent starfish” …

My qt tank just got completely wiped out by vermetids. Hadn't put anything in the tank but a long some sea urchin in for six months and was honestly trying to just keep some rock in it. Had some interested in buying the algae reactor I had running off it as primary means of nutrient export and some mechanical filtration. Was planning on using the money to buy a new reactor so until the weekend I put in a power head and did a water change. After 3 weeks of him telling me he'd come pick it up I was ghosted, and while I had put on a clean filter, suckers just got everywhere and liked my long spine overnight dooming the tank. Wasn't till I drained the tank and went through the mess of rocks till I realized how many there were.....

Just wanted to double check on this weird growth because another one just sprang up out of nowhere and the first one had been there for at least a month. It doesn't seem like any of my cuc is interested. I did manage to get a couple of bumblebee snails, but almost no lfs in my area had them.

Sponges - harmless filter-feeders.
