I purchased a $80 microscope from Amazon and I don't know it's just not really powerful enough to show me anything except mush. I do know that this growth is very much propagated by the amount of LED lighting I use and now I'm forced to use low light and of course compromise the health and growth of coral. But I also know my tank is young at about 9 weeks in my LFS owner is telling me to be patient. Eventually, I will have enough microbacteria and sponge in my aquarium that will neutralize the nuisance growth. But I feel like until then I'm really not gonna be able to get very far growing my corals. I had to go away a few days and I came back and the sides of the aquarium were caked in brown layered algae scum. I know that when I went away, I set the lights too high. LFS owner advised me not to use any chemicals, but a new product called microbacter clean. I read the product instructions and it says you have to be very patient. It could take six weeks for microbactorclean to do much good.
