Even though I’d love to help and not be rude .
I skipped through the text picking out pieces of information you provided .
the first I caught was “ this is going to be long “

next … I’ve never personally had shrimp /goby pairs and wouldn’t want to talk a bunch of poop that makes no sense .
But I will follow along to see how you make out .

@vetteguy53081 what’s your input .
When you comment . I’ll ask you the same question .
Did you read all 300 pages of work

Havent really read much, but I will add my .02cents seeing I have had quite a few pistol shrimp and gobies. I personally believe gobies can be killed by the pistol in a few different ways. It naturally plagues the smaller nano ones more like high bars, yashas, etc.

1. The pistols will close the burrows sometimes for multiple days or more when molting. The goby can get trapped in the burrow while this happens, starve, suffocate.
2. Burrows can collapse + rocks can shift.
3. Pistols will sometimes accidentally snap + hit their goby friends. Seen it happen, and the damage done.

Lastly if any of these happens the goby cant "call for help". There is also anecdotal and research of pistols in the wild killing + eating the goby, specifically if food source is low.

Hi Jay,
Thanks for the response. My goby finally passed on his own today. He was very healthy before, eating well and very healthy. I truly believe he got brain damage from the shrimp snaps, combined with being buried 3 days, lack of oxygen and not eating that weakened him.
Either way, Im sad he's gone, but happy i didnt have to bring myself to put him to a final sleep.
Thanks again for the useful info.
Sorry to hear that. Don’t be a stranger - there are plenty of very kind, helpful and knowledgeable people here.

It’s just advice. A blob is harder to read than a broken up piece of text. Just advice no hard feelings.
I tried so hard not to reply to this. I have to.

No hard feelings too, but really? It's harder for you to read. OK, Really?
