Tank is 1.5 years old and I've had dkh and calcium stable for a long time now.....about a month ago, purple coralline started to start on some of the rocks - it was small amount - ie. 2-3 mm in size, but as of last week they all began to fade. I don't any inverts such as Urchins that might otherwise consume the Coralline, so I'm wondering what could be causing this?

Thanks

was it turning white or just disolving?

If it was turning white, it could be too much par... did you change light intensity?

If its disolving, then its something with chemistry, like pH imbalance, or your Mg/Ca being burnt out from the coraline burst, yet it torched all the resources faster then it could grow.

Did you check your water parameters lately?

It didn't turn white...but slowly faded by the day. I check the Ca and Mg levels weekly, and on average Ca: 450ppm and Mg: 1450ppm

I never had issues growing algae before <grin>.
