My first reef tank was a disaster, Started off as a FWLR and was doing great. The problems started when I decided to grow corals. This was before the internet and abundance of information. I basically slowly killed every coral I added to my tank. Lighting appears to be the culprit, I have armed myself with information and better lighting this go roundDAILY QUESTION: What has been the biggest setback you've experienced in growing corals? It’s about balance. The corals need the nutrients. The fish need to eat! I’ve seen tanks with high nutrients and no algae and super happy heath corals! Flow is critical. Every time I clean my gyres, the tank just seems to wake up again. I try to make my flow proportional to lighting. So my powerheads intersect and provide the most direct flow at the top of the tank, with indirect currents across the bottom.DAILY QUESTION: How important is flow in coral growth?
