Just spoke to Doug at Hanna. Back orders on the Checker and calibration fluid should be filled within 2-3 days . . . but the 25 pk of reagents will be out for 3-4 weeks. @HotRocks, @4FordFamily, @drstardust, @Humblefish

HAHA you know why they are all out? Probably because they pulled all their in house stock to begin testing! I am in constant communication with them (I get at least 2 emails a day), this has also prompted them to reach out to other people in the industry to also test. I am feeding them all of the data I have gathered. And will continue to collect everything from this thread as you all that have them on the way start posting. They are going to compile all the results from everyone in order to make the final determination.

Like I have said, regardless, I have enough faith in it to use it at the level we hobbyists do. They may have many customers outside of the hobby too.

I just got off the phone with one of the Canadian scientific supply distributors we deal with at work today and they're getting inquiries on this out of the blue, in addition to mine. Reagents as well are 4-5 weeks listed ETA. Seems it’s spreading ;)

Spreading very quickly. I am getting Private messages and everything. CRAZY

Not sure if you saw, but BRS is looking into stocking the HR Copper tester too. That should help with supply concerns in the long run as well as increase its visibility with reefers.

Can you provide a link? SO I can check that out. I am just curious.

I feel bad for the fish that have been killed so far, all I can do is laugh. The end is in sight, IMO!

We have lost so many fish to this bogus now if I can’t cry then I’m laughing...

Back to your regularly programmed newscast.

Just ordered my checker. Got 4 QT tanks running. 3 of them are dosed with coppersafe using roughly 1.5ml gallon not accounting for water displacement so a 20 gallon tank got 30ml dosed, etc. I dont do well with color charts and am wondering was that orange really 2.0 or more like 4.0. How long would it take for the fish to kick the bucket if I overdosed.

In our experience it caused cloudiness, random fish deaths within 30 days. We had some come through it. Shame on us for assuming the dosing was remotely correct.

So if dosing were checked throughout coppersafe treatment and it was below 2.0 ppm, there should be no issue, correct?

Correct, assuming that 2.0 is therapeutic. Allegedly 1.5-2.0 is therapeutic but I’ve never accepted less than 1.8, personally.

Yes, sorry, I was referring to less than 2.0 ppm for not overdosing and not having random fish deaths within 30 days.

Ok for all you who were wanting a video. Here it is. It's not professional at all, but it gets the job done. Big shout out to @4FordFamily for shooting video and doing part of the narration! Hopefully it's instructional enough to be of help. Our kids were being plenty helpful as you can imagine. 4 kids all under the age of 4. It's a bit long.

I figured we could combine it with a true test. So here is what we did. Took a base test of my 40b QT prior to the test. Reading was .06ppm. less than I initially expected, but given the fact I have topped off the tank since last test it's acceptable. The much more important part of the equation is the dosing.
104338-1152x1536.jpeg

Base test. .06ppm

I am calling it 40 gallons, if you deduct displacement add back HOB filter, call it 40.
Copper Power. 2.5ppm yeild if dosed at 59ml to 40 gallons. Per manufacturer. They give directions to dose 1oz per 20 gal. 1oz is 29.5ml

2.5ppm/59ml=.042ppm per ml dosed
*4ml dose=.169ppm per 4ml dose.

So base test. .06ppm +.17ppm Dose=23ppm target after dose

Result. Yep. EXACTLY .23ppm
Watch the video.

I even did a re-test afterward for my data I am providing Hanna. It was still well within +/-.05

Backup test. .25ppm

Also for everyone following, I forgot to add to the above. As suspected, this tester is even more accurate and easier to use when dosing an actual tank compared to playing with dosing a gallon etc. @4FordFamily and I were both suprised the test yeilded the exact number. We were expecting to be within +/-.05 but dang!

I also thought it would be good for the video to show the actual dosing and water coming from a salwater QT with live fish exactly as it would be used on a regular basis!

I will continue to test for fun, and for the sake of compiled results for manufacturer. But I'm SOLD.
