*COPPERSAFE WARNING* along with Research on Hanna Instruments High Range Copper Checker

I tried to order one from Hanna instruments but they rejected my order because I was sending it to a forwarding shipping company (which will then ship it to my country).
The sales rep mentioned that they can only sell within the U.S.

Is there any other online seller that I can buy from?

I found a couple other sceintific instrument suppliers. But they are out of stock. I can look them up tonight.

Just curious who else has ordered one of the checkers? I think most of the people that posted they ordered have received them.

I did in Canada, was quoted a couple of weeks for both since it's a scientific distributor up here and they don't stock it.

If this continues to work out, I'm going to ask if the LFS will stock the reagents, if not one of the national online guys here. I don't mind paying their 15% mark-up for being readily available. When I inquired what the expiration date the reagents would be, they said 07/2022.

Yeah it takes a couple days to get the backorder email.

Was going to order it from eBay before they ran out and figured I wouldn't need it anytime soon since I tend to use CP. Then I decided I would like to add some wrasses. Should have ordered it when I was going to. No big deal though as I will be out of town and then I have time to find the fish I want before I need it. Will be interesting to see what happens with my year old bottle of Coppersafe and the test results.

Yes I am highly interested in what you find with a bottle that old. It seems recently purchased bottles are 2.5-3.0ppm if dosed per instructions.

Well here are my results. I doesd per bottle instructions into a 10 gallon qt.

Holy copper Batman! Should have tested better.
I thought my bottle was safe but looks like it’s the strong stuff too.
Incredible I have 2 quarter sized blue hippos that are alive after 30 days.

Wow! That is ultra high! I can't believe your fish are tolerating it. I would say your API test shows above 4 for sure. So had you tested with API previously? Or just dosed and assumed you were good?

Totally my fault I just dosed my usual. I have a chart I made with what I dose into what size tank I am using.

I rarely use copper, most times I dose CP, its just with the blue hippos they don't do good with CP.

Funny when I look at the picture I can see it above 4.

But when I was doing the test I was not sure. Glad I have a digital readout now!
