Mine will pick at mastick, but loves live black worms, PE mysis and earthworms I pick up around the house. If you have anyplace local to get live black worms or white worms I would try those. It's still going to be difficult tho because all of the other fish are going to go after them and most likely get them first.

EDIT : this is my established CBB who eats with the tangs but still loses the earthworm to the naso. This feeding behavior is what is so hard to develop with CBB in a tank already populated with hungry fish and why so many perish.

No I have been over feeding the tank for the passed 4 days. I have fed mysis, and brine with Selcon and garlic mixed in along with multiple different types of pellet. I was mainly doing this for the Blond Naso tang which ironically started eating pellets first then today he is eating just about everything.

Yes, I do plan on buying a ton of different frozen foods from BRS Monday. Including bloodworms, rods food of 2 types, plain brine, and clams on the half shell.

Thanks, I may do this. Hatching brine shrimp sounds next level but I guess I could just think of them as prehistoric dinosaurs and call them sea something or another *wink*.

It's easy. Sea monkeys tho I never had them as a kid lol. Good luck with the CBB and keep us updated on the progress.

you can buy clams at the local grocery store, get the small rock clams. Thaw, open, pray he eats. Note, they are kinda messy and have tons of nutrients...so yea. More over feeding.

Do you have a second tank or sump you can move him to? He needs time to establish an eating rhythm and with the other fish (esp the naso), he's going to have a hard time doing that. I have a naso in my tank too, plus other tangs.

I do have a 40 gallon breeder that I could set up and I may do that. I also have some amoxicillin on the way that if the bruise gets infected may help, idk? He is breathing hard compared to yesterday but I am going to give him one more day before thinking about setting up the 40 and even then I may not depending on condition.

About the clams lol, I live in a small town and closest place to find clams like that is 1+hour away I think.

Ok. The reason I mentioned the clams at the store is your cbb is probably in a declined state and they sort of get worse and worse if not corrected quickly and you likely don't realize it. But he's got a few bad signals going on not eating, skinny, bruise. I'd be pretty concerned.

I was going to buy live clams online ( littleneck clams ) cause I heard they are irresistible to Copperband’s. I’m just having to watch my budget somewhat so it’s either buy the frozen mixture of different foods or buy live clams online and throw in some shrimp to get free shipping and maybe make a tasty dish for the family.

Here is a short video Mr. Jay. Sorry if it’s low quality as it’s my first ever and it’s only an iPad camera.

The other fish look really good, but the CB is breathing too fast. That's a sign of some systemic disease issue. I can't rule out Uronema, sorry I can't give you any clear treatment advice. If it is Uronema, it will almost surely be limited to this one fish. However, there are other issues that can cause rapid breathing - velvet and severe bacterial infections are the two most commonly seen issues, with Brooklynella being a distant third (I don't see the mucus normally seen with that issue).

Thanks Jay. It’s not looking good for the little guy. I still want/need a Copperband badly. So I will roll the dice once more with a much larger specimen in my own QT procedure if need be.
Any end conversation advice is welcome.

TBO if this one doesn't make it just start off with the intention of setting up a tank to get it eating and healthy before even thinking off adding it to the display. Odds are good you'll end up in the same situation otherwise. Even CBB that eat in the store may decide to stop eating when placed into a tank full of aggressive eaters. It's your decision but I've been there done that which is why I do what I do now with them.

EDIT: also the stress of adding to the DT then catching it to put it in QT later is just more stress on an already stressed fish. JMO

This i agree is a systematic issue and not dietary as fish is not eating and with other fish thriving and eating suggest gill, internal or other issue I can explain everything my CBB has eaten and loves but every fish is different CBB is one of the fish that cant be enticed as easily. If the fish has lost interest in feeding, other tankmates will eat live and frozen before this fish has an opportunity.

Yes this is my intention for the next one. I know talking like next one already sounds kind of disrespectful to the fish but I do not intend to be. The next water change I do I will fill a 40 breeder with the discarded tank water and add a few ceramic balls to the hang on back filter to get it going. Then, after a couple weeks I will buy the Copperband cheaply and singularly from Saltwaterfish. I will try to get the largest reasonably priced one so it has a good chance of intimidating the existing Powder Blue.

I know the best way to get these fish is to observe them in a fish store but, the are not many good ones in Alabama…..

In the mean time I will study more and more on how to QT and feed the fish as effectively as possible. I know that live mussels or clams is a good way to get them going so I will purchase some beforehand.

So this may be a bit too soon but I will give him the benefit of the doubt as he gave me.

Dr reef has agreed to cover the Copperband even crediting a larger one for later even though I clearly stated it was my responsibility.

I have bought most of my fish from him and though there has been some turbulence in are business dealing he still went above and beyond what I expected.

Sorry for turning the last part into an endorsement of sorts but I figured I should change the record about the saltwaterfish thing.

So here is the final update. The Copperband died sometime last night. Here are pics. If it looks more clear what it is from these pictures please update this post.

FYI Premium Aquatics ships their frozen food better packed than anywhere I have tried. They use dry ice so it actually arrives frozen instead of partially thawed like other places with ice packs.

I am sorry you lost your fish, they are quite delicate in the beginning. Butterflies are susceptible Uronema which creates a red sore but looks like it could be something bacterial as well.

I’m glad you mentioned this. I will use Premium Aquatics then as I love what they have done for the hobby.
