Clown stopped eating today and stays in a corner. I can see some white spots but I don't have any experience on diseases and treatments. Information and advice highly appreciated.

Update:
After the freshwater dip the fish began to eat again it was much more active (almost normal I'd say). After that, I wasn't so worried as when I created this thread.
Since then, I've set up a treatment tank and today I started with Rally Pro. Bottle says do treatment by dosing at least 3 consecutive days.

Is that your recommendation too?

Since manufacturer recommends everywhere putting in DT and the like, I'm not really sure If I can trust those instructions.

Thank you for your quick help on day #1! @nereefpat @MnFish1 @Jay Hemdal @vetteguy53081

I believe that you said you have General Cure. I would use that instead. A dip with Ruby would be fine.

I do have it General Cure but I don't know any of these medicines and I thought Rally Pro was suggested. I'll keep it in mind for some other time.
This situation sounds familiar. It was determined that best is general cure in quarantine which offers Formalin for the skin/body and Metro for the hole. Rally is good but will take longer. Two days have gone by and fish still has no treatment.
Treat with GC as soon as possible and monitor water quality during treatment

Update QT Day #19
  • I did initial fresh water dip
  • I did 3 days of Ruby Rally Pro (first 3 days)
  • Later, I treat with AP General Cure (twice, 48hs apart as per directions)
  • Fish is eating and looking normal in general
  • The holes and bumps originally discussed in this post still look the same for me. See today's picture below.
I planing to put it back in DT today. Does this sound right? @vetteguy53081 @nereefpat

These look like bacterial lesions and a form of hlle- but not actual Hlle
The ruby itself would work but it takes up to 3 days alone to start taking effect. Same applies to general cure- 3 days not enough time

Can you remind everyone - what (if any) other fish are in your display? Were those treated? As to putting the fish in the display - I believe the fallow period for flukes is 42 days? if the fish has been in the display tank before, I would not put it back until 42 days are up.

@MnFish1 I don't have any other fish right now.
@vetteguy53081
  • For Ruby I did 3 days as that what it says in the bottle, then I stopped as you said it'd too slow.
  • For API G.C. I dissolved 1 packet in 10gal, waited 48hs and added another packet. I waited 48hs and did 25% water changes. All this following the directions from manufacturer as I don't know anything else.
  • Is your recommendation to keep applying API G.C. every 48hs? For how long? Do I do water changes in between?
I'm keeping it in QT for now. I can continue treatment.
