I know I always get sad when they die but I have found critters on corals from other places. Nothing glaringly bad but things I’d prefer not to have (asterinas) or various things I can’t identify
I’m not 100% so take it for what it’s worth because I’m not sure, but I think my assessors ate the very few asterinas I did have a while back lol. Haven’t seen one for some time now hahahaha

We are pretty careful with new stuff we introduce and I always recommend a brief dip and visual inspection.

We have asterina stars in every system and harlequin shrimp to keep them in check, aptasia in our acan system because thats the only tank that its not safe to keep a copper band in.

Better safe than sorry :)

Well, my peppermint shrimp cleaned up my tank already so a couple aptasia might be a treat for them. But not for me. Ha ha

Question for Cherry Corals vets in here, have you quarantined your new corals from CC? If so, how long and under what conditions?

I will for sure dip them.
I have bought from them many times, a quick dip is all you need. I've never seen any pests, their systems are beautiful there at the shop.

My husband picks up for me and was very impressed. My LFS is great but they spend time on their tanks not the rest of the place.

Honestly! It’s really nice to see so many other women getting so involved in this hobby!!! I used to feel very alone!
I had tanks years ago. Then I had two kids under two while working at a demanding job. Just got back into the hobby now that my kids are 10, 15, and 16.

Father here, after my 3rd son was born (oldest was only 4) my tanks were the first thing neglected. Now they are old enough to “help”. Totally get how hard (impossible?) it is to keep up with hobbies with little ones.

Ours are 4 and 11. Our 11 year old is just starting to show a little interest in the reef while our 4 year old is chomping at the bit to have his own tank in his room hahaha
