If I wanted to try a monti or chalice what would be a good starter piece?
Montis tend to be easier although chalices are fairly easy too. Need better, consistent water quality for chalice, low light (bottom) low flow. I have had montis in all sorts of water conditions.

Agreed! I started with a plain ol red monti plate and now moved into chalices. The monti was more forgiving where as some chalices can melt fast if put under too much light!

Thanks! I'm just getting enough confidence to try one or the other. I don't want to pay a ton of cash for something that looks like it came out of a sparkly rainbow unicorn and kill it though.:)
