I am looking to add a yellow fish to my 36 gallon tank. Cant decide between canary blenny or yellow coris wrasse. Want to know other people experience with them.

Which of the two would be more of an active swimmer and not a hider? Also which would be a thicker fish and not so slim and a bright yellow.

I have read that coris wrasse are good at eating bristle worms so thats an added benefit! So tired of being stung by them! lol

I have 2 clowns and a 2 inch talbots damsel. I read they are very small and non aggressive damsels, so far so good with the clowns! One clown is a baby the other about 2 inches as well!

Appreciate the help!

The wrasse is easier to care for and more outgoing but gets much larger.
I am defiently leaning towards the wrasse. The only thing that worrys me is I had one delivered last week and it arrived dead along with 2 carpenter flasher wrasse! I'll be picking this fish up. I think. Not 100 % sure.

It makes me think they dont travel well or maybe even bag well for a shot period. Maybe stress got them all! So wierd how that happened.

Thanks for your imput and I sure like the fact they are easier because I am buying all new fish since I got rid of my killer figi blue devil! I dont need any hard to feed fish!

Oh geez. I forgot to mention I have a new flametail blenny. At least I think I do! I only saw him once since I put him in last Thursday!

Big mistake! I bought one for each tank and their head is so tiny and black that I can barely see the other peeking out through his hole! Cant find my watchman goby either in my other tank! I keep checking my amonia detector now! Not even sure if I can mix 2 blennys!

The canary blenny I had b4 for a very short period b4 my blue devil damsel killed was very active! Not like this flametail that hides!

Coris wrasse really needs more room than 35 gallons. Very few wrasses will work under 50 gallons. The Blenny would be the appropriate size.
Canary Blenny do have venom and some ppl react poorly to it if nipped.
Another yellow fish to consider that may be ok in 35 gallons is a Midas blenny. They get fairly large but because of their habits require less tank.
Royal gramma, while not completely yellow is a very bright, very active and interactive fish. Mine is visible all day even during moonlight phase and eats straight from the turkey baster like I’m bottle feeding him.

I really liked my Midas blenny but lost him a year or two ago. The last one I had didn’t last very long for some reason, but about to get another.

I’ve had a lot of different types of wrasse, but the yellow Cori’s I had gotten before was really small and didn’t make it. Want to try another one of those too. Lol
