Can i use freshwater light for the coral Xenia?

I am new to saltwater and i have a simple 20 gallon tank with 2 clownfish. My tank is actully made for freshwater and has a white light. I was thinking of adding a really easy coral to keep and i heard pusling Xenia is a easy coral that can almost grow anywhere. Do u think this coral will survive in freshwater light?

It’ll be hit or miss you would be better off getting a cheap light off Amazon like the Lominie pixie 30, it’s a great light for a cheap price around $70 Canadian don’t know what that is in US dollars. This is my friends tank using that exact light

The problem is i live in Norway and the shipping would cost alot. Everthing else in the store is too expensive. So it would not survive in a freshwater light?

Light intensity and light spectrum are the two parameters to consider and it is likely that you have no information on either. If the light on your aquarium was not advertised as suitable for a planted tank, the spectrum will be unsuitable and not bright enough.

Are you able to afford a light suitable to grow plants in the house? These would have a suitable spectrum. It might have sufficient brightness.

In the led world, white light is produced with Red/Green/Blue. I run mixed gardens at 6K & 10K which to many is considered white and non reef.

First puctureis 10K and second picture is 6K color spectrum.

I have found green star polyps more tolerant of lower intensity.

Is the second picture is that macro alege? And if so is macro aleage easier to keep and where can i get macro aleage? And since u have experience with white light do u know of any corals that are easy to keep and will survive in white light?

I am more optimistic now. My concern is brightness. Does the saltwater aquarium have rock so that you can place the Xenia colony near the surface?

Yes you can. I have coral under an old version of a freshwater prime on a 25g they are growing and doing well.

Just make sure it is something used for growing plants and not just little leds for viewing fish.

I would also buy a new fluorescent tube once a year to keep the brightness as high as possible.

For your viewing pleasure, I suggest adding an actinic blue strip light to eliminate the yellow tint.
