I only started with 25% live rock unfortunately I'm still planning on adding a BTA in about 9 months. I am however, adding some nice zoas, mushrooms, and LPS so I've got plenty to keep me busy and happyI also have a 15 gallon. I started with live ocean rock, I had a heck of a first 6 months between bryopsis, dinos, cyano, alkalinity instability. Regardless, BTA are way more hardy than people make them out to be. I housed 10 at once because I got them for free, and that was at 4 months. I'd say if things are looking ok, 6 months would be fine.
That sounds like a solid plan. As long as you have a sufficient light, you should be fine.I only started with 25% live rock unfortunately I'm still planning on adding a BTA in about 9 months. I am however, adding some nice zoas, mushrooms, and LPS so I've got plenty to keep me busy and happy
Im currently using a Kessil a360x. I originally wanted a radion xr15 6g but I practically got the Kessil for free so it will do for nowThat sounds like a solid plan. As long as you have a sufficient light, you should be fine.
Just remember the one golden rule with this hobby to be successful....I'll save your info and if I do decide to keep one, I'll definitely send you a pic or even a video.
Thank you for the best of luck wishes, I'll need it, nanos are not easy, but I'll try my best!
Eric had and has gotten a few shipments of live rock straight from Aussie. I'm sure that comes with tiny and rubble. What's this Aussie rubble you speak of?
That'll work just fine. I've got two of them over my rsr 250 nem tank.Im currently using a Kessil a360x. I originally wanted a radion xr15 6g but I practically got the Kessil for free so it will do for now
I would agree with this.I am going to go with "never". Tank is too small for that IMHO.
There are so many factors. A larger tank size tends to reduce the number of factors that might get sideways, or at least "dilute" them, In my humble opinion. What's the right size?
If stability, maturity, light and flow requirements are met, the size of the animal vs space is the only other factor.
I'm honestly curious. You say never because 15g is too small. What is your right size to keep a BTA? If there is a "too small" there has to be an "okay" size, right? Interested what that would be for others. There are so many factors. A larger tank size tends to reduce the number of factors that might get sideways, or at least "dilute" them, In my humble opinion.

Yes if I do end up doing a trial cheaper BTA, I can give it to my brother-in-law. He's a got a 3 year old 40 cube and a 120. I'm trying my best to keep things stable, with water testing, water changes, minimal feeding, etc and so far so good I won't add any BTA until early next year as that's been my original plan even before I created this post.If you can keep your tank stable, you can add a BTA. They are fairly easy to keep .I don't think you will have any problem. It is a very expensive anemone to loose if you cannot keep it. Your tank is too small so realestate is very limitted, so I would not advice trial with a less expensive anemone first, unless you can sell it back to the LFS.
I have both in my 15, Rock flowers are super hardy and typically don't walk. Shouldn't be an issue together.Yes if I do end up doing a trial cheaper BTA, I can give it to my brother-in-law. What are your thoughts and experience with adding rock flower anemones with a sunburst anemone?
When did you add the rock flowers and the BTA?I have both in my 15, Rock flowers are super hardy and typically don't walk. Shouldn't be an issue together.
Ohhh, I think 16 or 17 would do just fine...I'm honestly curious. You say never because 15g is too small. What is your right size to keep a BTA? If there is a "too small" there has to be an "okay" size, right? Interested what that would be for others.
I dislike small tanks personally but have a remote jbj 20 with 3 quadricolors and two Sherman's + clowns in it. It's a nem cube as designed. It's 2 years old and has no issue with the inhabitants and space. 20g is by percentage, quite a bit bigger than 15g but I'd postulate that if 5 BTA can live happily in a 20g, one would be fine in 15.
I waited two months too before I added the kessil a360x. So it’s been on since June 1st and I’ve already got a ton of coralline algaeBuy it whenever you want. Its your money.
Personally I would wait till the rocks got some coraline on it and your levels are stable.
Im waiting till 6 months before adding one to my sons wb20. Its been going for two months and we just cranked the lights up and added corals.
Like 4 months for the RFA, 6 for my first BTA(s) and then 8 for my CSBWhen did you add the rock flowers and the BTA?
You mixed regular BTA and the sunburst? Any issues so far? I’ve only read bad news with mixing nemsLike 4 months for the RFA, 6 for my first BTA(s) and then 8 for my CSB
I got rid of the regular before I got the Sunburst. Just because the Sunburst is huge. You mixed regular BTA and the sunburst? Any issues so far? I’ve only read bad news with mixing nems
