When is the commercial break? How long will the game go on? Baseball suffers from a similar problem. So, when television rose to popularity in the world, so did football in America. It's the perfect sport for advertising. Regular breaks, very predictable lengths of games, etc. They even go so far as to call time outs for commercials. If you've ever been to an NFL game in person then you'll notice it's quite boring. A lot of standing around watching nothing. That's because you don't see the commercials in the stadium.
