I frag mine too much, 5 frags since beginning of winter but here's what I have.

It's in lower par, around 200. My frags under the Radions have much better color definition at 300 par.

That thing will be big in 6months. Lovely looking that’s a fact! Thanks for sharing Ty

Yes sir! Where are my scissors at? [emoji23]

Make sure they’re good and rusty. The extra iron helps the healing process. It’s science. And make sure they’re kind of dull. We all know how dangerous it is working with sharp objects.

Amazing tank! Can i ask if u still use reef octopus calcium reactor? Any reviews? [emoji2]
Its the only one I’ve ever used to it’s hard to compare it to others. I’ve enjoyed my calcium reactor and haven’t had any issues so far but I use a peristaltic pump for the flow rate which would probably make any calcium reactor a breeze to run.

Ok thanks i am also planing to get the same model. But its description says for tank size 150g heavy stocked. I guess your tank volume is more right? So it still has no issues with the supply.

I tried to go and look up the model I bought on BRS to see the stocking guide but I don’t think they sell it anymore or it’s not listed on their site. I use kalkwasser to raise ph and I believe that makes up for a good portion of my alk demand. If you don’t plan to dose kalk I’d get a model that is going to fit your needs. Overall I’ve been very happy with all my reef octopus products and would recommend them.

Did you snag a budgie smuggler a while back? If so, how is it doing?
It wanted to take a trip into the calcium reactor to be reborn, haha. I ended up losing it. I didn’t have much left of it either after cutting it several times to try and get it to grow. No matter what I did with that one it wouldn’t grow or even encrust.

I use the Cole Palmer masterflex 7523-60. One of the best things I ever purchased for my tank. No matter if I used a line off my return or a separate powerhead to try and run my calcium reactor the effluent would slow down, even with the output wide open. I haven’t needed to touch my calcium reactor or than to adjust co2 input since getting the peri pump.

I’ve been hunting for that same model on eBay. If you don’t mind my asking how much did yours run you?

I paid $420. I am not sure what the cost of them are now but at the time if I was interested in one I would click on the “make offer” and submit them a low offer. Most of the time they would make a counter offer. There was someone who was selling them brand new for $1500 and I made an offer of $400. He countered and we went back and fourth and he came down to $650. If I didn’t have a budget of $500 I would of bought it. Making an offer may save you a ton of money.

I’ll do that. I know yours is a brushless model. Mine has brushes and sounds like a dadgum lawn mower it’s so loud and now the ez load head has an annoying click to it with every rotation. I’m about to just slap a fuel filter and needle valve on with a mj1200 until I can find an affordable brushless model. I’ll low ball these people until I get someone to bite. Thanks for the info

Great advice.

I think the model after 7523-60 was 7523-80. And now the most updated is 7522-20. The later two look identical to me.

I had a 7523-80 that started to have an error periodically for me. It would stop running and I would have to hard restart the unit and it would start working again for a week or so, until it stopped again.

To do any repair out of warranty costs $700. So I ended up finding a 7522-20 for just about the same price, last month. I’m not sure what to do with the old one (whether to repair it or just keep it as a backup).

But it’s great advice to make an offer and see what happens. Often the seller may have a minimum and it will auto-reject.

Doing some research on masterflex heads is probably also worthwhile. If you find a pump with a head you can’t use, you’ll have to buy another head separately. The easy load 2 heads are probably the most common for our applications, but there is an easy load 3 out. There are also multichannel pumps (I use a dual channel for AWC). Just depends on how you want to use it.

That was my worry about the brushed model. I wanted something quiet and with my brushless I can not even tell it’s on.

Have you checked out the kamoer pump? Seems to have decent reviews and the people I’ve seen use it have been happy with it. If it was available at the time I bought my pump I probably would of gave it a try.

I’ve looked into them extensively and there seem to be an unusual number of lemons with them. Mad customers are always the most vocal though so I take it with a grain of salt
