I agree with you. I think their original pic was from being freshly brought in.
To be fair, corals coming in from them don't even look like their pics, not even the first day, let alone sustain the colors. I have said it on their thread about how their pics scare me away more than it makes me want to buy them. I posted a pic of my confetti frag I bought directly from them and on the day I received it. It was nice but it didn't look like the pic they sent me of my frag. It left me feeling bummed that it wasn't as awesome as I thought it was going to be because I relied on their pic. I have a feeling a lot of people are like that. I know a local buddy who bought their Four loco. He even made a thread about how he just bought it and was waiting for it to arrive. People keep asking in that thread for an update but he doesn't reply simply because it didn't live up to their pics. After visiting vivid i've come to believe some corals need to be blasted. I've always been a high light believer, but now more than ever, the more light I put on a coral the better.
The #1 coral that's taught me this is the Vivid Tequilla Sunrise. You look at most of them in most tanks and it's a green dog. You look at it in their tank it's vivid florescent metallic purple with flaming orange polyps.
After seeing that exact coral in several tanks I've noticed in really high par tanks, it will develop some of the purple. While in low par tanks it's pure green. But in Vivids setup under what I would have to categorize as "extreme par", you can get that florescent metallic purple with the flaming orange polyps.
Vivid runs all their radions at 100%, and run twice as many as I've ever seen on a tank. In their 6x2' frag tank they've running 8 Radions about 8" off the water at 100% intensity.
Nobody can sustain vivid corals colors except vivid, and I firmly believe this is exactly and specifically why.
I agree with a lot of those comments. I have a few vivid pieces as well, including the four loco. It doesnt come close to holding the colors advertised. I havent ever seen anybody that has a grown out piece of it, nor any for sale from hobbyists. So I wonder sometimes if I ever will lolTo be fair, corals coming in from them don't even look like their pics, not even the first day, let alone sustain the colors. I do believe high par brings out the best colors but their pics are just way over done in my opinion.

That's so weird to hear because my buddy who's an acro nut like I am went there 3x now in the last 2 years and said he was disappointed in what he saw in person versus what he saw online. I probably just need to go visit family there and take a look myself. My own eyes and I have a pretty good and trusting relationship these days. [emoji38] Thanks for the feedback Rakie!I definitely agree, the only caveat would be I can guarantee they look exactly like the pictures in person, and at their shop. I didn't believe it until I saw it, the colors looked way too rich and saturated. They are 100% true to life.
The only thing they do that others don't is blast their corals with inhumane levels of light. everything else is standard.
I don't anticipate you winding up randomly in california, but if you do, it's worth a visit.
I do not have it, lol! Looks real nice. Is that yours?Hey Bubba did I find something you don’t have????
JF venomous tenius!
If I buy a frag of one those they post online and the day I receive it, it is going to look like their pic?I definitely agree, the only caveat would be I can guarantee they look exactly like the pictures in person, and at their shop. I do run a skimmer but not really for nutrient export but more for the gas exchange as I use a co2 scrubber.Bubba beautiful tank you have. Im just curious do you run a skimmer? And are you still nodosing anything? Again awesome tank

Every now and then I experiment with aminos but nothing consistently. Besides that I don't dose anything.

It's a shame considering the price. They are definitely riding the Tenuis wave.I agree with a lot of those comments. I have a few vivid pieces as well, including the four loco. Bwahaha...I bought a confetti from @FarmerTy . I'm fully expecting it to show up EXACTLY as advertised by Vivid .... EXACTLY.... /s
I do not. I rinse them off in the sink and brush them with an old toothbrush to try and get out any lose dust from when they cut them. I dry them off with a towel and in the tank they go.@bubbaque do you rinse or soak your tiles in rodi or tank water before use?
They are very cheap and they work great. This June it will be two years I have been using them and never had any issue what so ever. Was pleasantly surprised when I went into hd and got a package of 9 for under $4
Big E runs that bulb combo, mine is slightly different. On my display I run 4 blue+, 3 coral + and 1 actinic. I do use two SB reef bars along with my t5's.@bubbaque I run the same T5 setup as you (half blue+ half coral+). Some SPS just look better in the daylight. Do you have any LED like reefbrites running along side the T5's?
Maybe a common question but there's a lot of pages lol.
