Did Fluconazole Kill all of your Bryopsis?

  • Yes

  • No

  • I'm treating my tank with it now.

  • I love Bryopsis and I'm mad that everyone is killing it.

I think there was one post back at the beginning that described HOW you dosed the meds, but I can't seem to find it. Did you just dissolve the capsules in some tank water and pour into the display?
I opened each capsule and poured them in 2 cups of ro/di water and then poured it into my return chamber of my sump. I'm also running a filter sock on my drain that will hopefully help catch pieces that break off.

You're welcome :)
Fail...... [emoji24][emoji24][emoji24][emoji24]

I've found a place that sells capsules, but won't allow me to buy more than one in the buy option.

I've contacted them, watch this space again lol

Several of the listing on the UK site are for 5,10,15 capsules. You looked at each one?

I didn't see any listing them. Just 1 selling single 150g another selling 3 x unknown size.

Did you search for fluconazole?

Thanks.

1 won't post but the second seems ok. Unfortunately he has only 1 box left.

Going to wait to see if the UK shop replies, if not will by the 10 off and pick the rest up locally.

Thanks for that...... your a star!

Around 24 hours into dosing my tanks now. So far it looks like fluconazole is beginning to work on the bryopsis for the most part throughout both tanks.
I've noticed some curling at the ends and browning and lighting of pieces in parts of it.
70g 1800mg dose

Nitrates still appeared relatively same today according to the chart provided as did phosphates.

I have my moments. :D
Lol.... I sort of changed my mind, must be my time of the month [emoji39].

Ended up buying 3 150 capsules from 3 online UK pharmacists and a single from eBay. ! That gives me 1500 mg [emoji4]

Worked out £26.98 for the lot so not to bad with P&P. So will dose and post next week..... thanks again [emoji106]

29g biocube 600mg dose 24 hours in. The change seems more noticeable in this tank than the 70g as far as bryopsis comparison.

Nitrates and phosphates were pretty much stable in this tank as well according to the charts and if my measurements were accurate with yesterday's.
All inhabitants (fish, corals and inverts) are carrying on business as usual in both tanks. I haven't checked chaeto in either tank today either but will monitor it over the coming days.
Now we wait 24 more hours.

Definitely let us know how your chaeto reacts. A lot of people are wondering if it's going to die during treatment.

Here is a shot from today. Again, I maintained the camera settings and even left the salt streak. I will clean the glass one of these days. I did not manually remove any of the dying bryopsis. As you can see, it is disappearing fast. A reminder that I had used Vibrant for 2 months and I believe it weakened the bryopsis so my results are faster then the average.

I posted a shot of some bryopsis yesterday. I had touched up the photo with Lightroom to try to get it closer to the colours I was seeing. Fortunately, I retained the original. I used the same camera settings, same lighting and same time of day (did not even clean the glass, lol) because the change from yesterday to today is dramatic. Yesterday, most of the tips were white. Today most all bryopsis is white. I am surprised how quickly this stuff works.
